Cremation Rites have been accorded and memorial visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at the Pfannebecker Funeral Home, Denison,Iowa.
Irmtraud Maria-Dorothea Marshall was born in Borken, Westphalia, Germany February 20, 1946, the daughter of Johannes Dobben and Klara Dobben maiden name Nuyken. She was raised in Germany where she received her elementary, high school and college education. In 1968, Irmtraud moved to the United States and to Sioux City, Iowa, where she was employed as a legal secretary. On January 11, 1972, Irmtraud was united in marriage with Stephen Marshall at Pipestone, Minnesota. Their union was blessed with three children: Stephen, Jr., Derek and Katja. They made their home briefly in Sioux City before moving to Denison, Iowa. Early in their marriage Irmtraud was a busy homemaker caring for her family. She was later employed as a counselor at the Manning Recovery Center in Manning, Iowa, where she loved helping people, being promoted to supervisor before retiring for health reasons. In her spare time she loved spending time with her grandchildren, watching movies and she greatly enjoyed her pets. One of Irmtraud’s greatest joys in life was helping people. She was a former member of the Methodist Church in Denison. Irmtraud died early Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at her home in Denison. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 67 years, 5 months and 4 days. Irmtraud was preceded in death by her mother Klara Dobben. Those remaining to cherish her memory include her husband, Stephen M. Marshall of Denison, Iowa, three children: Stephen Marshall, Jr. and wife, Jami of Omaha, Nebraska; Derek Marshall of Martinez, California and Katja Marshall and fiancé Nathan Vetter of Kiron, Iowa; 10 grandchildren: Taylor, Lia, Jayden, Kiera, Sasha, Kacie, Gavin, Lili, Quinn and Owen; her father, Johannes Dobben of Germany, one brother, Hans-Gerd and wife Sabine Dobben of Germany and three children Marc, Nina, Linda, one sister, Marika Rausch of Germany, and two children Sven and Maike with her husband Rolf Fritz with three grand nieces Svea, Merle, Réka and one grand nephew Kende; other relatives and friends. Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded and Irmtraud will be entrusted to her family.
