Jackie Lee �Quacker� Petersen was born on April 26, 1937 to Chris and Eva (Comstock) Petersen in Avoca, Iowa. He graduated from the Avoca High School with the Class of 1955. Less than a year after graduating, Jack joined the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged on November 5, 1959.
Jack met Rosalie Christensen and the two were united in marriage on November 14, 1964 at Rosalie�s parents home in Elk Horn, Iowa. They had two daughters Diana and Lisa.
After returning home from the service, Jack worked as a service mechanic and also at a small engine shop in Kansas for a short time before returning to the Avoca area. He then worked as a painter with his father. He also work for the Jerry Mez Implement and for his brother Ronald�s wrecker service before working with his brother Richard as a mechanic.
He was a gun collector and enthusiast. He enjoyed demolition derbies in Avoca and going on motorcycle rides and visiting with others. He was a lifetime resident of Avoca.
Jack died on Friday, May 17, 2013 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan having attained the age of 76 years and 21 days. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife osalie; and brothers Richard, Edward �Eddie�, Ronald �Ronnie�, and Duane.
He is survived by his daughters Diana Petersen of Atlantic, Iowa and Lisa Petersen of Avoca, Iowa; sisters-in-law Rose Petersen and Martha Lynn Petersen both of Avoca and Dorothy Petersen of Florida; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pastor Eric Meissner officiated the 10:00 am funeral service at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca, Iowa on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. Honorary casket bearers were: Mike Petersen, Terry Beck, Danny Petersen, Kenneth Kohl, and Duane Petersen, Jr. Military rites were conducted by the Fred Funston American Legion Post No. 227 at Graceland Cemetery in Avoca with John Butcher, Gary Krummel, Keith Petersen, Kevin Petersen, Allan Petersen, and Doug Brown serving as casket bearers.
