Jacqueline Verlee Jensen, daughter of Anton and Leona (Christensen) Henningsen, was born April 26, 1926 in Cass County, Iowa. She was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Elk Horn, Iowa. She attended Elk Horn High School, where she graduated with the class of 1944.
On October 7, 1944, Jackie was united in marriage to Raynold Jensen in Omaha, Nebraska. To this union three children were born: Rhae Jean, Michael and Scott. While Raynold and Jackie were on the farm, she worked just as hard as a hired hand, carrying 2 five gallon buckets of feed at a time. In 1965, they moved into Harlan, Iowa. She worked as a cook at Westridge School then at Shelby County State Bank until retiring in 1990.
Jackie enjoyed bowling, playing cards and putting together puzzles. She also spent time crocheting and needle point sewing. She loved babysitting her grandchildren and being with family. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan, Iowa.
Jackie died on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Elm Crest Retirement Community in Harlan, attaining the age of ninety-one years, ten months and four days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Raynold Jensen.
She is survived by her children Rhae Jean and her husband Gary Magnuson of Goodyear, Arizona; Michael Jensen and his wife Pam of Harlan, Iowa; Scott Jensen and his wife Valli of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; 3 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother Toby Henningsen and his wife Beverly of Elk Horn, Iowa; nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.
A 10:30 AM Memorial Service was officiated by Rev. Phillip Nielsen on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa. Dustin Schmidt, Christopher Jensen, Randy Henningsen, Jamie Henningsen, Gerry Henningsen and Delbert Hull served as urn bearers. Inurnment was held at Elk Horn Lutheran Cemetery in Elk Horn, Iowa.
Pauley Jones Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
