Jacqueline Rose Larsen, daughter of Adolph “Rosie” and Matilda “Tillie” (Heesch) Engel was born on December 2, 1937 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She attended grade school in Council Bluffs at Weston Elementary, middle school in Minden, and graduated from Avoca High School.
On January 4, 1959, Jackie was united in marriage to Dwayne Larsen at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan, Iowa. Two children were born to this union: Todd and Michelle. Jackie helped Dwayne on the farm while their children were young. She was a fabulous cook, baker and immaculate house keeper. Everyone loved helping Dwayne on the farm, just so they could have some of her delicious dinners.
In 1982, Jackie became the co-owner of Jachelle’s with her daughter Michelle. Together they owned the women’s fashion clothing store for more then 41 years. She retired in the fall of 2023.
Jackie passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 with her family by her side at her home in Avoca, Iowa, attaining the age of eighty-five years, eleven months, and twelve days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law Denny Hardy, siblings Judy McLaughlin, and Larry Engel.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years Dwayne “Sparky” Larsen of Avoca, Iowa; children Todd (Gloria) Larsen of Harlan, Iowa; Michelle Hardy of Churdan, Iowa; grandchildren Paige (Brandon) Cairney of Avoca, Iowa; Payton (Austin) McMahon of Oceanside, California; Periann (Jack) Gubbels of Avoca, Iowa; Brogan Hardy of Ames, Iowa; Daylon (Alex) Hardy of Churdan, Iowa; Reegan (Michael) Hanigan of Churdan, Iowa; great grandchildren Riley, Paisley, and Charlie Cairney, Briar Gubbels, Madden, Hadley, and Halston Hardy, Barron and Merrick Hanigan; sister Kristi (Kent) Beebe of Avoca, Iowa; sister-in-law Cheryl Engel of Avoca, Iowa; nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.
