James "Jim" William Justice, son of Clifford and Frances (Scott) Justice, was born on June 27, 1958, in Sioux City, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Irwin and graduated Valedictorian from Irwin-Kirkman High School with the class of 1976. Jim continued his education at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and graduated in 1978 with a B.A. in agriculture. After school, Jim moved back to the Irwin area and began farming. Jim received his pilots license in 1983 and enjoyed spending time in the air.
When Jim wasnt busy working, he could often be found on the golf course, mainly the Rosman-Glendale Farm Golf Course north of Harlan, Iowa. Jim loved sports and participated on many local softball and volleyball teams. He also enjoyed skiing and looked forward to his yearly trip to Colorado with his friends. When Jim wasnt outside playing sports, he enjoyed being inside cheering on his Chicago Bears.
Jim was a "man of the land" and knew he wanted to farm from a young age. In 1984, Jim purchased his current farm in Polk Township near Irwin. He was very proud of his home and was always updating it using his skills in woodworking. Jim continued to be active in the community and was President of the Shelby County Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company.
Jim loved to visit his brother and sister-in-law, John and Marcy, at their summer home in Michigans Upper Peninsula. He loved the swimming and boating that the area offered (and of course, the golfing).
Jim died on Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, having attained the age of fifty-years, eleven months, and twenty-nine days. He is preceded in death by his sister Jane Ellen Justice who died in February 2009 and his nephew James Stuart "Jack" Justice.
He is survived by his parents Clifford and Frances Justice of Irwin, Iowa; his brother John Justice and his wife Marcy of Edina, Minnesota; two nephews: Chuck and Doug Justice; his aunts and uncles: Howard Justice and his wife Norma of Ankeny, Iowa; Darlene Justice of Irwin, Iowa; and Roberta Bradley of Oceanside, California; other family members and many friends.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, June 29, 2009, at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa, with Pastor Keith Pals officiating the 10:30 AM service. Interment was held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Irwin, Iowa, with Jims nephews, John Charles Justice and Douglas Richard Justice, acting as honorary casket bearers. Serving as casket bearers were: Mike Fara, Scott Whitfield, Jeff Leinen, Rowly Burton, Mike Feldman, Greg Gaskill and Allen Hoffmann.
