James Levi �Jim� Jacobsen was born on August 3, 1940 to Levi and Cecile (Henriksen) Jacobsen in Aubudon County, Iowa. He graduated from Harlan High School with the Class of 1959.
On October 28, 1961, Jim was united in marriage to Linda Stoltz at St. Michael�s Catholic Church in Harlan, where they remained members. They became parents to three children: Todd, Troy, and Tyler.
Jim worked as Plant Superintendent from 1968 to 1989 at G. A. Finley and in 1989, went to work at Hallett Materials where he remained until 2007.
When his children were younger, he coached them in baseball and followed the Harlan Cyclone football team.
Jim and Linda would vacation in the winter and especially enjoyed going to New Orleans. He learned to cook Cajun food and was fond of making it for his family. He liked riding horses and had ridden a horse to school when he was younger.
Jim had served on the board at the Rosman Golf Course north of Harlan and shot a Hole in 1 on the number 4 hole there.
On February 17, 2012, he was admitted to Elm Crest Retirement Home due to his failing health. This is where he died on Saturday, July 13, 2013, having attained the age of seventy-two years, eleven months, and ten days. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim is survived by his wife of fifty-one years Linda Jacobsen of Harlan, Iowa; sons Todd Jacobsen and his wife Patty of Harlan, Iowa, Troy Jacobsen and his wife Dena of Avoca, Iowa, and Tyler Jacobsen and his wife Shawna of Centerville, Iowa; six grandchildren; other family members and many friends.
Rev. John Frost officiated the 10:30 AM funeral service on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa.
