James Alan Lueth passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 9th surrounded by family at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE following a hard-fought battle with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Jim was the fifth of six children born to Harold and Laura Jean Lueth and grew up on a farm southeast of Manilla. Jim loved to compete in high school sports. Some of his best memories were on the football field, basketball court and baseball field. His love to compete was evident in his time spent playing slow and fast pitched softball, town team basketball and bowling in his early adult years. Later in life his hobbies included golfing, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
After a brief time living in Omaha, he returned to Manilla where he married his wife Mary Lou Boeck on October 18, 1975. They were blessed with four children, Kelly, Cory, Nathan and Christina.
Following a short stint with Mrs. B's in Omaha he learned the tricks of the painting trade in Manilla before venturing out on his own to start Lueth Painting in 1979. Jim was an incredibly hard worker and took pride in being the first one on the job site in the morning. He met a lot of his best friends through his work and would most likely still be painting had his health not failed him.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother Harold and Laura Jean Lueth, mother-in-law Alice Boeck, brother Amel, niece Lauren and good friends John Bexten and Roger Juhl.
He is survived by his wife Mary Lou Lueth, children Kelly (Chris) O'Brien of Atlantic, Cory Lueth of Des Moines, Nathan (Julie) Lueth of Carroll, Christina (Jessie) Lovan of Des Moines, grandchildren Brody, Easton, Taryn and Tessa O’Brien of Atlantic, Jase Lueth of Des Moines, Minden and Karver Lueth of Carroll, Mila and Roman Lovan of Des Moines, brothers Paul of Rendon, TX and Rob of Manilla, Sisters Nancy Dunham of Riverside, CA and Lynne (Mike) McGonigle of Ames and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
