James Joseph "Jim" Schimerowski was born on March 10, 1931 to Stanley and Magdalene (Ebert) Schimerowski in Earling, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph�s Catholic Church in Earling. He attended St. Joseph�s Catholic School and graduated with the Class of 1949.
Jim enlisted in the United States Navy on March 15, 1951. He served during the Korean War as an aircraft mechanic. After his honorable discharge in March of 1957, he returned to Iowa.
On June 21, 1952, Jim was united in marriage to Mary Lou Kohles at St. Joseph�s Catholic Church in Earling. Seven children were born to this union: Jim, Mary Kay, JoAnn, Michael, Thomas, Bob, and Dave.
Jim farmed in the Earling area his entire lifetime. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Jim died on Sunday, January 18, 2009, having attained the age of seventy-seven years, ten months, and nine days. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters: Helen, Sister Janice, and Jean and his brother-in-law Urban Bissen.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years Mary Lou Schimerowski of Earling, Iowa; his children: Jim Schimerowski and his wife Deb of Helena, Montana, Mary Kay and her husband Jerry Michels of Minden, Iowa, JoAnn and her husband Rev. Brian Arnold of Logan, Ohio, Michael Schimerowski and his wife Lea of Clinton, Iowa, Thomas Schimerowski and his wife Randa of Great Falls, Montana, Bob Schimerowski and his wife Chris of New London, Minnesota, and Dave Schimerowski and his wife Martina of Lake Elmo, Minnesota; twenty-two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister Kathleen Bissen of Dewey, Arizona, brother Larry Schimerowski and his wife Carol of Earling, Iowa; brother-in-law Rex Heese of Carroll, Iowa; other family members and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, January 22, 2009, at St. Joseph�s Catholic Church in Earling, Iowa, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Bob Hoefler celebrating. Interment was held at St. Joseph�s Cemetery in Earling with Daniel Schimerowski, Joey Schimerowski, Derek Schimerowski, Matt Michels, Scott Schimerowski, and Mike Kohles serving as casket bearers.
