Jane Fabian Profile Photo

Jane Ellen Doonan, born April 24th, 1946, to parents Gaylord L. and Loretta J. (Abel) Doonan in Atlantic, Iowa. She passed away peacefully at Cass Health on March 8th, 2025, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and family.

Jane graduated from Harlan Community High School. The day after graduation, she took a train to Washington D.C. to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI). After a year, she continued her employment with the FBI in Omaha, Nebraska.

On May 29th, 1966, Jane was united in marriage with Dean Fabian, the love of her life. Three years after being married, they moved west of Elk Horn, where they farmed and raised dairy cattle. She spent the next several years raising their two children, Brad and Jodi. Later, she rejoined the workforce and worked at Elk Horn grocery store, Hy-Vee, Department of Transportation and Atlantic Dental Center. In 2016, she was excited to retire and have more time to spend with family and friends.

Jane was very strong in her faith and was an active member of the Monroe Chapel Methodist Church. She enjoyed fishing, golfing, baking and cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones - hoping it was finally their year. Her most cherished times were those spent with family and friends. She loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities. She was a good friend to many and always up for a good time. She always told the best stories and the look on her face would always tell more.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Linda Ahrenholtz, her brother James Doonan, and other extended family members.

Jane is survived by her children Brad Fabian and Jodi (Chris) Topp, her grandchildren Austin Fabian and Alexis Fabian, her great-grandchildren Waylon Fabian and Landry Fabian, her sisters Denise (Dennis) Juhl and Ann (Chuck) Wolken, her sister-in-law Donna (Dick) Mortensen, and many nieces and nephews.
