Jane Clara Goetzinger
January 30, 1946 — February 7, 2019
Jane Clara Goetzinger, daughter of Edmund Nicholas and Sylvia Pauline (Gubbels) Goeser, was born January 30, 1946 in the Westphalia, Iowa area where she spent her entire life. She was baptized, received her first holy communion and was confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia. In 1964, she graduated from St. Boniface Catholic School where she received the God, Home and Country Award.
On August 28, 1965, Jane married her high school sweetheart, Charles Joseph Goetzinger. Early in their married life, she enjoyed being a stay-at-home-mom, raising her four children: Regina Marie, Edward Nicholas, Sheila Anne, and Melissa Susan. During that time, Jane also worked a variety of part-time jobs while her children were growing up some of which include erecting grain bins and cooking part-time for St. Boniface Catholic School. Along with her friend Jackie Blum, Jane also did indoor painting and wallpapering over the years. Jane worked at CDS Global for 28 years, retiring in 2008. Jane was a dedicated, lifetime member of the St. Boniface Parish Community in Westphalia, serving on the Rosary Society in all capacities.
Jane enjoyed golfing, cooking, playing card games, Scrabble, Dominoes and reading. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends at their monthly Bunco games and being a member of the Red Hat Society. But her real love was spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.
Jane died on Thursday, February 7, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa, attaining the age of seventy-three years and eight days. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Goetzinger, her parents Edmund and Sylvia Goeser and her parents-in-law Edward and Agnes Goetzinger.
She is survived by her children: Gina and her husband Matt Tuttle of Waukee, Iowa; Edward Goetzinger of Westphalia, Iowa; Sheila and her husband Bryan Van Veldhuizen of Chula Vista, California and Melissa and her husband Kurt Boettger of Harlan, Iowa; four grandchildren: Austin Van Veldhuizen, Logan Van Veldhuizen, Gavin Bruck, and Maya Boettger; siblings: Jolene and her husband Joe O’Tool of Alpha, Illinois; Mary Lou Keitel of Davenport, Iowa; Jim Goeser and his wife June of Omaha, Nebraska; Bruce Goeser and his wife Julie of Harlan, Iowa; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
