Janell Fern Evans

Janell Fern Evans, daughter of R. Leonard and Iva Verle (Armstrong) Christensen, was born on December 24, 1934 in Harlan, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Pleasant Grove Church in the country near Fontanelle, Iowa. She attended grade school in Fontanelle and Walnut, Iowa. Janelle later received her GED then her LPN at Iowa Western Community College.
On March 5, 1951, Janell was united in marriage to Eugene Petersen. Three children were born to this union: Shirley, Betty, and Alfred. She used her LPN to work at nursing homes and home care in California. In the early 1990's she married Ford Evans.
Janell enjoyed crocheting and watching baseball. She loved her dog Mimi and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She spent her retirement in Iowa, California, and Texas.
Janell died on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa, attaining the age eighty-six years, ten months, and twenty-seven days. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ford Evans, and siblings Ray Christensen, Dwight Christensen, and infant sister Ruth Christensen.
She is survived by her children Shirley (Kenneth) Olson of Harlan, Iowa; Betty (Erwin) Erickson of Ames, Iowa; Alfred Petersen of St. Olaf, Iowa; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister Verle (Dallas) Ruth of Grant City, Missouri; nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.
