Janice Helen (Osborne) Niemann was born on July 18, 1933 in Mason City, Iowa, to Edgar and Helen (Brudevold) Osborne. She grew up in Mason City, Iowa and graduated from Mason City High School with the class of 1951. After graduation she attended Iowa State University for 1 year. On February 25, 1956, Janice united in marriage to David Niemann in Mason City. To this union 4 children were born: Douglas, Lisa, Laurie and Jay.
Jan loved to read books about Yoga and Religion. She taught Yoga in Harlan and also taught art class while residing at Risen Son Christian Village Village. Jan quilted and sewed, played in the Bell Choir at Trinity Lutheran Church, was a part of Bridge Club for a number of years; and decided to go back to school to receive her LPN degree at 50 years of age. Most of her working career was spent at Iowa Power and Light as an administrative assistant. After she retired, she helped Dave at his insurance company. She loved to attend her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities.
On Wednesday, March 9, 2022, Jan passed away surrounded by her loving family at Risen Son Christian Village, having attained the age of 88 years, 7 months and 19 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; Edgar and Helen.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 66 years David Niemann of Council Bluffs, Iowa; children Douglas Niemann of Blair, Nebraska; Lisa (Tommy) Kimbell of Wichita Falls, Texas; Laurie (Tab) Pedersen of Oakland, Iowa; Jay (Lou Ann) Niemann of Iowa City, Iowa; 6 grandchildren: April (Dan) Powers of Franklin, Tennessee; Andrea (Andrew) Sweeney of Omaha, Nebraska; Landen (Taylor) Pedersen of Minot, North Dakota; Maddison Hendrickson of Dallas, Texas; Ben Niemann of Overland Park, Kansas; Nick (fiancé Jenna Mott) Niemann of Costa Mesa, California; 8 great grandchildren: Alex, Ellie, Bella and Caiden Powers; Olivia Sweeney; Rowen, Henry and Stella Pedersen; brother Greg (Leah) Osborne of Mason City, Iowa; other family and many friends.
