Jay Dargin
July 11, 1947 — January 17, 2018
John “Jay” Joseph Dargin, son of Emmet and Wilma (Schneckloth) Dargin, was born on July 11, 1947 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Jay was baptized and confirmed in Minden, Iowa. He graduated from Underwood High School with the class of 1965.
Following graduation, Jay enlisted in the United States Army Reserves on October 30, 1969 in Neola, IA. During his time in the army he received the National Defense Service Medal for his commitment during a designated time period when a "national emergency" had been declared during his time in the war.
Jay owned a trucking company, DJ Trucking, for a short time before working for Double S Trucking in Avoca, Iowa until his retirement in 2010.
He loved his children, TJ and Jackie, more than anything. He was a man of high family values and was very ornery. Jay enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing pitch, and watching sports.
Jay passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at his home in Avoca, Iowa, attaining the age of seventy years, six months and six days. He is preceded in death by his parents, Emmet and Wilma.
He has left to cherish his memory, his children TJ (Jamie) Dargin of Oakland, IA; Jackie Dargin of Avoca, IA; Celine (Bryan) Simonsen of Walnut, IA; Nyla (Mark) Paulsen of Avoca, IA; siblings Jerry (Brenda) Dargin of Minden, IA; Dennis Dargin; Marcelline Dargin-Day of Council Bluffs, IA; Jim (Janet) Dargin of Shelby, IA; grandson Hewitt Dargin of Oakland, IA; 7 step-grandchildren.
