Jean L. Steinkuehler

Jean L. Steinkuehler was born at Odebolt, Iowa, September 28, 1939, the daughter of Carl and Elsie Wunschel Druivenga. She was raised at Arthur where she received her education. On February 24, 1957, Jean was united in marriage with Wayne Steinkuehler at Storm Lake, Iowa. Their union was blessed with four children, Rick, Lori, Karen and Jerry. They made their home in Denison where Jean was employed at Pamida from 1968 until 1991. In 1991 Wayne and Jean moved to Oklahoma and Jean was employed at Westlake Hardware until retiring in October of this year. While residing in Denison she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Jean considered her work her hobby and she enjoyed the fellowship and friendships of her many co-workers through the years. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, yard work and cherished times spent with family. Jean died Friday afternoon, November 7, 2008, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison. Iowa. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 69 years, 1 month and 9 days. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Elsie Druivenga and one brother, Raymond Druivenga. Those remaining to cherish her memory include her husband, Wayne Steinkuehler of Claremore, Oklahoma, four children, Rick Steinkuehler and wife, Hanna of Chicago, Illinois, Lori Krueger of Denison and special friend Keith Eck of Vail, Karen and husband, Randy Rath of Denison and Jerry Steinkuehler of St. Louis, Missouri, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, two sisters, Doris Sanford of Sloan, Iowa, and Margie Rath of Ida Grove, Iowa, two brothers and their spouses, Duane and Shirley Druivenga and Jim and Janice Druivenga of Battle Creek, Iowa, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison with the Rev. Kurt R. Kaiser and the Rev. David M. Sewing officiating. Music for the service included the congregation singing "What A Friend We Have In Jesus", "Just As I Am" and "How Great Thou Art" with Karen Kahl serving as organist. Pallbearers were Keith Eck, Dillon Eck, Jeff Kruger, Todd Moeller, Tyler Moeller and Randy Rath. Interment was at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Following the interment the family invited everyone to return to the church and join them in fellowship and a luncheon prepared and served by Zion Ladies Aid.
