Jeffery Hicks

Jeffery Dean Hicks was born on September 3", 1969, to Donald Hicks and Doris (Watts) Hicks. He was the second youngest of seven children. Jeff grew up in a small town in Missouri, where he of course never got into or caused any trouble. He graduated in 1988 from Craig High School in Craig, Missouri with a graduating class of under 20 people.
After graduation, Jeff moved to Council Bluffs, lowa to be closer to his family and started working at Jiffy Lube and then Grease Monkey for many years. Jeff had his first child in 1994, Josh Haggerty, from a previous relationship.
On July 1", 1999, Jeff met the love of his life, Andrea Colbert, on a blind date set up by a friend of Jeffs. They instantly hit it off and he won over Andrea's heart by taking in her daughter, Courtnee, who was 18 months old at the time, as one of his own. Jeff and Andrea got married exactly one year after they met on July 1", 2000, and started a wonderful life together in Oakland, Iowa. In December of 2002, Jeff and Andrea, had their first child together, Cameron Hicks. After living in Oakland for about four years, they found a house in Harlan, Iowa. From there, Jeff worked at O'Reilly's for 15 years and moved his way up to Assistant Manager. Jeff loved working with the public and helping anyone that he could. In July of 2010, Jeff and Andrea had their second and final child together, Caiden Hicks.
After deciding to change jobs in 2019, Jeff moved to Car Quest in Harlan. He worked there until he physically could not work anymore due to Cancer. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 esophageal cancer in September of 2022. In Jeff's free time you could always find him cheering for the Chiefs whenever they were playing. He never missed a game and would always be decked out in Chiefs attire from head to toe-literally! He even wore his chief socks on game day. He always loved spending time with his family and having game nights. In 2018, Jeff became a Grandpa AKA 'Pops' and was never so proud in his life. Jeff was the most family-oriented guy anyone could meet.
Jeff passed away peacefully with his wife and children by his side on November 5", 2023, attaining the age of 54 years, 2 months, and 2 days at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Doris Hicks and brother Charlie Hicks.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea Hicks, children, Josh Haggerty, Courtnee (Jayde) Albers, Cameron Hicks, and Caiden Hicks, Grandchildren Jaylynn and Jaxxon Albers, all of Harlan, IA. Siblings: Sheryl Hicks of Shenandoah, IA; Donna Fink of Des Moines, IA; Jay Hicks of Oakland, IA, John Hicks of Council Bluffs, IA; and Janet Campbell of CA.
