Jeremiah Lee Ruffcorn was born on May 17, 1981 in Atlantic, Iowa. He is the second son of Ronald E. and Charlene R. (Klindt) Ruffcorn. He attended Pre-school and the first part of Kindergarten in Red Oak, Iowa. In November of 1986, the Ruffcorn family moved to Avoca; this is where Jeremiah finished grade school and high school. He graduated with the Class of 1999 from A-H-S-T. He had a summer job at Lozier Corp. as a fork lift driver. In the fall of 1999, he attended ITT Technical Institute and graduated with honors with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer-Aided Drafting Technology. In 2000, he started working at Valmont Industries in Valley, Nebraska. He rose to the position of Senior Design Drafter.
Jeremiah followed in his brothers footsteps and at the ripe old age of 16 months, he fell in love with Grandpa Klindts John Deere tractors. Every visit thereafter, he had to have a tractor ride with Grandpa.
Jeremiah loved being on the farm, helping his Grandpa Klindt, Uncle Bob, and Aunt Bernitta Goettsch. He progressed from walking, to bicycle riding, to moped, to car, and finally to the 4-wheeler in going up to Grandpas. Jeremiah was thrilled when Grandpa taught him to drive a tractor. He earned his first tractor from Grandpa, a 1951 John Deere B. He enjoyed fixing up his tractors. When he had questions, he consulted with Uncle Ralph Klindt. He also fixed up an old building for his shop, where he expanded to working with metal.
When Jeremiah was president of B.Y.F., he and the other members wanted to fix up the study of the brick church building. On closer inspection, it was decided to start a fund for a new church building. He said "Someday we will be custodians of the church and we dont want to be custodians of this building!" The new steel building was erected in less than 3 years.
Two of Jeremiahs proudest moments were when he became an uncle; Whitney Lee Ruffcorn, born on September 2, 2004, and Danielle Elizabeth Ruffcorn, born on December 20, 2006.
Jeremiah passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, having attained the age of twenty-nine years, five months, and three days. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Leonard Ruffcorn, Lena Mae Ruffcorn and Phyllis Klindt.
He is survived by his parents Ronald E. and Charlene R. Ruffcorn of Avoca, Iowa; brother and sister-in-law Nickolas and Lisa Ruffcorn of Kansas City, Missouri; nieces Whitney and Danielle Ruffcorn of Kansas City, Missouri; grandfather Max Klindt of Avoca, Iowa; other family members and many friends.
