Jessie R. (Sorensen) Nesbitt Jessie R. (Sorensen) Nesbitt was born at Haskell, Texas, October 26, 1935, the daughter of Jesse and Annie Curry Jones. She was raised there, graduating from high school in 1954. Jessie was united in marriage with James Sorensen in Texas and they made their home in South Sioux City, Nebraska, where they were blessed with three children, Valeta, Jeff and John. She was employed for twenty-five years as a bookkeeper for Wilson Trailer in Sioux City. In 1981, Jessie moved to Dallas, Texas where she was employed at Texas Oil and Gas until retiring in 1996. She was united in marriage with Morgan Nesbitt in November of 1984 in Dallas, Texas. He preceded her in death June 11, 1989. Following her retirement, Jessie moved to Lincoln, Nebraska and received her B.A. degree from the University of Nebraska in 2001. She then moved to Denison, Iowa, where she had since resided. Jessie died Thursday morning, June 26, 2008, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 72 years and 8 months. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Denison. Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Morgan, and one sister, Mary Jo Price. Survivors include one daughter, Valeta and husband, Brian Pautsch of Charter Oak, Iowa, two sons, Jeff Sorensen of Lincoln, Nebraska, and John Sorensen and wife, Maureen of Anthem, Arizona, 8 grandchildren, Josh and Katie Sorensen of Lincoln, Nebraska, Emily, Ben and Travis Pautsch of Charter Oak, Iowa, and Maddie, Joey and Lily Sorensen of Anthem, Arizona, two brothers and their wives, David and Marsha Jones of San Antonio, Texas, and Chester and Charlotte Jones of Houston, Texas, one sister, Lelia Jones Hix of Wichita Falls, Texas, other relatives and friends. Graveside funeral services and burial were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at the Willow Cemetery in Haskell, Texas, with Chester Jones officiating. A visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at the Holden-McCauley Funeral Home in Haskell, Texas. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements where a visitation was held Saturday, June 28, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be directed to www.pfannebecker.com .
