Reva Jewell Swaters was born in Ohio, Missouri, February 19, 1927, the daughter of George and Dorothy Belew Snider. She was raised in Appleton, Missouri, where she received her education. On February 28, 1946, Reva was united in marriage with Willard Swaters in Montrose, Missouri. Their union was blessed with three daughters: Sharon, Shirley and Jan. They made their home in Montrose for two years before moving to the farm at Charter Oak, Iowa. After farming for 21 years they moved to Denison, Iowa, where she had since resided. From 1969, until retiring in 1989, Reva was employed as the Merchandise Manager for J.C. Penney Company in Denison. Willard died March 8, 1990, and Reva continued to reside at their home in Denison. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, yard work and sewing, especially for her daughters. As long as her health permitted Reva was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison, St. Rose Ladies Guild and was a former choir member. She was an active volunteer in her community evidenced by her 50 year award as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. Other memberships she enjoyed included being a Hospice Volunteer and was a past president and member of Crawford County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Reva died Saturday evening, July 27, 2013, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 86 years, 5 months and 8 days. Including her parents, George and Dorothy Snider, and her husband, Willard, Reva was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kristen Collier, one sister, Dixie O’dell and three brothers: Cecil, Chester and Charles Snider. Those remaining to cherish her memory include three daughters: Sharon and husband Roger Collier of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Shirley and husband Michael Whyte of Cochiti Lake, New Mexico, and Jan Swaters and friend Earl Stein of Leo, Indiana; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one brother, Bill Snider of Caldwell, Idaho, other relatives and friends. A memorial mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 1, 2013, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Denison, Iowa, with Father Paul Kelly as Celebrant. Others participating in the mass included Servers: Katie and Sarah Russell; Lector: Judy Brodersen; Gift Bearers: Sage and Dalton; and Eucharistic Minister: Nora Millea. Music for the mass was provided by St. Rose of Lima Adult Choir, Pat Menegay, Director, singing “Amazing Grace”, “Just A Closer Walk With Thee”, “Prayer of St. Francis” and “How Great Thou Art” with Jean Cornelius serving as accompanist. Inurnment was at Oakland Cemetery in Denison. Following the inurnment all were invited to join the family at the Parish Center for fellowship and a luncheon prepared and served by St. Rose of Lima Ladies Guild. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home,
