James Robert Christensen of Loveland passed away at his home on January 1, 2008, after a three year battle against Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He was comforted by the presence of his loving family. Jim was born in Harlan, Iowa, on January 5, 1942, to Lehman and Edith Christensen.

He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1960. After meeting on a blind date, Jim and Carol (Petersen) were married on June 15, 1963, in Anita, Iowa. They lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and rural Oakland, Iowa, before moving to Loveland in 1988.

Jim worked as a meat cutter for Safeway for nearly 30 years in Iowa, Nebraska, and Colorado. After retiring from Safeway, he had a lawn business for five years and then worked as a driver for Thompson School District for ten years. Jim served in many areas at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oakland and at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Loveland.

Jim was the proud father of sons Chris and Wife Beth of Pierson, Iowa; Craig and wife Mary of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and daughter Beth of Orlando, Florida. His beloved grandchildren are Matthew and Heather Christensen of Sioux City, Iowa and Margaret and Elinor Christensen of Highlands Ranch, Colorado. He is also survived by sisters, Joanne and her husband Norman Mathiasen and Barbara Hansen all of Harlan, Iowa; sisters-in-law Fran Christensen of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Carol J. Christensen of Harlan; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his faithful companion, Conchita (the Chocolate Lab).
