Joanne Melicher of Avoca, Iowa, died on Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at the Avoca Nursing and Rehab Center in Avoca.
She is survived by her children: Michael Melicher of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Marcia and her husband Wayne Uhden of Manhattan, Kansas, Marcella and her husband Robert Spratt of Fort Worth, Texas and Joseph Melicher and his wife Melissa of Harlan, Iowa; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters Mary and her husband Donald Homes of Tacoma, Washington and Judy Grote also of Tacoma.
Per her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Joanne will be buried at sea by the United State Navy as was her husband, Dave Melicher, in 2001.
