Jon D. Burgar
January 19, 1967 — April 11, 2014
Jon David Burgar was born on January 19, 1967 to David and Cynthia (Terflinger) Burgar in San Diego, California. He was baptized at North Coast Church and graduated from high school in California. He attended two years of trade school and started building homes in Florida.
On February 23, 2010, he was united in marriage to Tammy Hansen. Together they raised six children: Jayden, Ethan, Ashley, Mooris, Brian, and Tanya, living in Denison, Manilla, Irwin, Charter Oak, and Dunlap before settling in Harlan in 2013.
Jon was a hard worker and enjoyed his jobs at Bomgaars in Denison, Iowa and Krajicek pallets. He also enjoyed the outdoors going camping and fishing with his family. On Saturday nights, he could be found at the race tracks in Harlan or Boone.
Jon died on Friday, April 11, 2014 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, having attained the age of forty-seven years, two months, and twenty-three days. He was preceded in death by his father David Burgar and his grandparents Rev. John and Marguerite Burgar.
He is survived by his wife Tammy Burgar of Harlan, Iowa; children: Jayden Burgar and Ethan Burgar of Logan, Iowa, step-children: Ashley Hansen-Moore of Manilla, Iowa, Morris Moore of Bettendorf, Iowa, Brian Moore and Tanya Moore both of Avoca, Iowa; mother Cynthia Burgar of Boone, Iowa; brothers and sisters: Joel Burgar and his wife Mary of Boone, Iowa, Amy and her husband Jeremy Gagnon of Shasta Lake, California, and Peter Burgar of Corning, California; brothers and sisters in-law: Teresa Derry of Des Moines, Iowa, Patrick and Larissa Hansen of Harlan, Iowa, Rick and Stacy Hansen of Manilla, Iowa, Tim and Lisa Hansen of Avoca, Iowa, and Tony Hansen of Harlan; father-in-law Richard Hansen of Harlan, Iowa; nieces and nephews who affectionately called him “Boo Boo”; other family members and friends.
