Juanita Elma Hansen was born on October 21, 1918 in Logan, Iowa, to Elmer and Elsie (Frazee) Sutton. At a young age, her family moved to Harlan, Iowa, where she graduated from Harlan High School.
On June 7, 1938, Juanita was united in marriage to Marvin Hansen. To this union, one son, Robert, was born.
Juanita was a Charter Member of the First Baptist Church in Harlan where she was an active member of the women�s group. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge 286, where she obtained the highest honor. Shortly after her 80th birthday, Juanita moved from Harlan to Council Bluffs, Iowa, to be closer to her family where she became a member of Broadway Christian Church.
In August of 2006, Juanita became a resident of Bethany Lutheran Home in Council Bluffs and it was there that she died on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, having attained the age of eighty-nine years and seven months. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin, and her sister and brother-in-law Georgia and Dale Constable.
Juanita is survived by her son Robert Hansen and his wife Karen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; her half-sister Ruby Kagarice of Harrisonville, Missouri, her granddaughter Jodi and her husband Todd Strong of Council Bluffs, her grandson Christopher Hansen and his wife Linda of Elkhorn, Nebraska; six great-grandchildren: Steve, Tasha, Caitlin, Tanner, Mason, and Grace; nieces and nephews; foster grandchildren; other family members; and friends.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan with Rev. Jann Osborn officiating the 11:00 AM service. Serving as casket bearers were: Steve Davis, Tanner Strong, Tom Hansen, Chris Hansen, Todd Strong, and Phil Hansen. Interment was held at the Harlan Cemetery in Harlan, Iowa.
