Judith Ann Buckley
Judith Ann Buckley, daughter of Victor and DeJoy (Ogden) Finken was born on December 13, 1946 in Sioux City, Iowa. She grew up in Earling, Iowa where she was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She attended grade school in Earling and graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic School in 1964.
Judy was united in marriage to Ronald Buckley on June 11, 1966 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling. Three children were born to this union, Michelle, Julie, and Michael. She worked at CDS in Harlan, Iowa for over 20 years. Judy loved the holidays and decorating her home to each season. She also enjoyed spending time on her front porch in the sun, reading a book.
Judy lived up to her “red hair personality” and was very social. She loved traveling and meeting new people. Some of her family trips included Alaska and Jamaica, and traveling to Mexico to enjoy a Pina Colada and getting her nails done. She also enjoyed playing cards and admiring lighthouses. During the winter months, Judy would stay in Texas at a place called Fun N Sun, her Texas friend group and family went on a Caribbean Cruise together.
Judy died on Saturday, September 16, 2023 in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, attaining the age of seventy-six years, nine months, and three days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ron, and siblings Patti Finken, Duane Finken, Gerald Finken, and Beverly Finken.
She is survived by her children, Michelle Buckley of Ponchatoula, Louisiana; Julie (Michael) Bratcher of Gretna, Nebraska; and Michael (Leah) Buckley of Earling, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; siblings, Shirley Leonard of West Des Moines, Iowa; Kay (Dave) Kurcz of Papillion, Nebraska; Diane (James) Dunham of Conway, South Carolina; Ruth (Larry) Asbury of Pearcy, Arizona; Debra (Richard) Hudkins of Cibolo, Texas; Audrey (Steve) Henscheid of Newton, Iowa; Keith (Judy) Finken of Defiance, Iowa; nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.
