Judith Martha Soghigian, daughter of Dallas and CeCelia (Lefeber) Voge, was born on December 25, 1941 on the family farm outside of Portsmouth, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and attended school at St. Mary’s Catholic School all in Portsmouth.
Growing up on a farm with 3 brothers and 6 sisters, Judy gained a strong and independent work ethic that inspired her to continue her education to even obtain her MBA after she had already received a double major in English and Business Administration. She made her home in Chicago and raised her two sons: Adrian and Avedis.
Judy was a strong willed, self-made woman who had no problem fixing things around the house herself. She needed a tree cut down, she cut it down. She needed something fixed around the house, she fixed it herself and was proud of the yard she landscaped herself. She instilled this work ethic to her sons. She worked for Abbott Laboratories for close to twenty years in Chicago.
After her retirement, Judy moved to Greenville, South Carolina and helped take care of her granddaughters who she loved spending time with as much as possible. Family meant the world to Judy and part of her heart was still in Iowa. Even if she couldn’t make every trip she wanted to back to the Portsmouth area, she spent countless hours on the phone talking to her brothers and sisters.
Judy died on August 23, 2017 in Greenville, South Carolina having attained the age of seventy-five years, seven months and twenty-nine days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Doris Peterson and Mary Nordby.
She is survived by her sons: Adrian Soghigian and his wife Christine of Greenville, South Carolina and Avedis Soghigian of Chicago, Illinois; her granddaughters: Juliea, Ani, and Ava Soghigian; her brothers and sisters: Nadine Buckley and Donna Davis both of Bellevue, Nebraska; Don Voge of Radcliff, Kentucky; Kathy Palmer of Lockhart, Texas; Bob Voge of Cocoa Beach, Florida; Lois and her husband Steve Ragsdale of Henderson, Nevada and Jim Voge and his wife Nancy of Portsmouth, Iowa; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
