Julie Ann Mortensen, daughter of Clayton and Stella (Ingraham) Hardy, was born on August 26, 1942 in Logan, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Country School in Harlan, Iowa, and was baptized and confirmed at Elk Horn Lutheran Church in Elk Horn, Iowa.
On September 22, 1959 she was united into marriage to Lynn Mortensen in Harlan, Iowa. From this union four children were born: Donald, Mike, James and Tracy. Julie loved reading, watching birds, planting flowers and going for rides. She invested most of her working life at Salem Lutheran Home, the Elk Horn Locker, CDS, Elk Horn Brand Eggs and was a member of the Red Hat Ladies.
Julie will surely be missed, but those meeting her in heaven are those that preceded her in death, including, her parents Clayton and Stella; grandson, Jacob Hartvigsen; siblings Sally Dunn, Robert Hardy, and Tom Hardy.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of fifty-nine years Lynn Mortensen of Kimballton, Iowa; children Donald Mortensen of Boone, Iowa; Mike (Peggy) Mortensen of Kimballton, Iowa; James (Patty) Mortensen of Kimballton, Iowa; Tracy (Kevin) Hartvigsen of Audubon, Iowa; brother Bruce Hardy of Manning, Iowa; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, other family and many friends.
