Julie Ann Nash, daughter of Kenneth Winters and Dianne (DeJager) Winters DeHaan, was born on April 18, 1964 in Sioux Center, Iowa and was raised on her parents farm near Rock Valley, Iowa. She was baptized at the First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley and attended Rock Valley Christian School and later Western Christian High School where she graduated with the class of 1982.
A few years after graduating high school, Julie moved to Denver, Colorado where she worked as a nanny. In 1986, she then moved to California and later to Arizona where she worked as a manager of several senior care centers.
Julie was united in marriage to David Baxter in 1985 and they made their home in Long Beach. They returned to Iowa in 2002 and made their home in Walnut, Iowa just before the sudden death of David in November of 2002.
She was then united in marriage to Ryan Mitchell Nash on July 30, 2005 at the Walnut Presbyterian Church. Shortly after their marriage, Ryan was diagnosed with Sarcoma and died on May 15, 2007. After Ryan’s death, Julie remained on the farm in rural Walnut, Iowa where she loved tending to her plants and flowers in her gardens. She also kept herself very busy working out at the Atlantic, Iowa YMCA and being active at the First Presbyterian Church especially singing in the choir.
Julie was then diagnosed with cancer herself but never missed a beat in living her life with a smile on her face and love in her heart. She kept working as a customer service representative at Midstates Bank in Avoca, Iowa all the while battling ovarian cancer and dealing with the effects of chemotherapy and radiation for many years.
In 2016, she made her home in Hancock, Iowa and this is where she died on June 1, 2018 having attained the age of fifty-four years, one month and fourteen days. In addition to her husbands, David and Ryan, Julie was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her mother, Dianne Winters DeHaan and her husband Roger of Orange City, Iowa; her brothers and sisters: Steve Winters and his wife Janene of Ocheyedan, Iowa; Rick Winters of Lakewood, California; Bruce Winters and his wife LeeAnn and Betty Jo Winters all of Portland, Oregon and Shellie and her husband Chris Rader of Franklin, Tennessee; eleven nieces and nephews; her boyfriend Kirk Henningsen of Oakland, Iowa; other relatives and many friends.
