June Doris Scott, daughter of Anton and Etna (Hansen) Swensen, was born on June 27, 1929, in Harlan, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan and graduated from Harlan High School with the class of 1947. After high school, June took normal training and taught at the area country schools including, Polk Township No. 2 (Rabbit Hallow), for ten years.
On June 30, 1948, June was united in marriage to Paul Frederick Scott at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan. After their wedding, June and Paul made their home 2 � miles outside of Harlan where they farmed for many years. June also worked as the office manager in a real estate office in Harlan for several years.
June died on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, having attained the age of eighty years, ten months, and twenty-one days. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; her brother, LeRoy Swensen; and her sister, Arlene Larsen.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Norman Scott, of Manilla, Iowa; her nieces and nephews: Redgie Hansen and his wife Janelle of Scottsdale, Arizona; Stephen Hansen of Kirkman, Iowa; Monte Hansen and his wife Marcia of Kirkman, Iowa; Nan and her husband Byron Hansen of Rockton, Illinois; Susan and her husband Robert Erbele of Lehr, North Dakota; LeAnn Pauley and her husband Warren Heard of Geneva, Illinois; Beth and her husband Jack Erbele of Lehr, North Dakota; Larry Scott and his wife Pam of Montana; Karolyn Fiore of Topeka, Kansas; Nancy and her husband Allen Steenhusen of Westchester, Pennsylvania; Julie Scott of Yucca Valley, California; Maureen and her husband Alan Jensen of Elk Horn, Iowa; other family members and many friends.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, May 21, 2010, at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa, with Rev. Steven Chellew officiating the 1:00 PM service. Interment was held at Jacksonville Cemetery in Jacksonville, Iowa, with Wes Clay, Jeremy Svendsen, Tom Hansen, Doug Svendsen, Jonathan Hansen, and Joshua Hansen serving as casket bearers.
