Junior Holloway
November 10, 1928 — July 20, 2016
Junior Scott Holloway was born November 10, 1928 to Uriah Scott and Lucil (Davenport) Holloway near Eagleville, Missouri. At the age of four, his family moved to rural Harlan where Junior attended school at Douglas #9 and Kirkman Community School.
On December 15, 1948, Junior was united in marriage to Dorothy Juhl. Four boys were born to this union: John, Jerry, Don and Tim. They lived on farms north of Harlan and near Botna before building their own home in rural Defiance in 1964.
Junior managed Holloway Seed for many years and enjoyed raising cattle. He also worked spraying fertilizer, some heavy construction and driving truck. In 1989, he moved to Harlan and “retired” in 1991.
His hobbies included golfing and playing cards and woodworking. Junior built cedar chests for each of his granddaughters. Anything he built was built to last forever. He also helped Dorothy with volunteer work at the American Cancer Society.
Junior died at the Myrtue Medical Center on July 20, 2016 at the age of eighty-seven years, eight months and ten days. He was preceded by his parents; son Don Holloway; siblings Doris Grabill; Buck Holloway; Donald Holloway; Tom Holloway; James Holloway; Luella Reynolds; Robert Holloway; Fred Holloway and Gary Holloway.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Holloway of Harlan, Iowa; sons John Holloway and his wife Marsha of Carlisle, Iowa; Jerry Holloway of Indianola, Iowa; Tim Holloway and his wife Jodine of Defiance, Iowa; grandchildren Chris Holloway and his wife Angie; Cory Holloway his wife Angela; Stacey and her husband Travis Goldsberry; Amanda Holloway; Marcus Holloway; Alan Holloway; great grandchildren Nathan, Neriah and Tucker Goldsberry; Jordan, Chase, Connor and Caleb Holloway; sisters Alberta Dreier of Manning, Iowa; Nora and her husband Vernon Campbell of Irwin, Iowa; Janice Holloway of Surprise, Arizona; sister in law Cheri Holloway of Kirkman, Iowa; nieces and nephews; other family members and friends.
