Karen Joan Scheffler

Karen Joan Olson Scheffler, daughter of Art and Leana (Windeshausen) Olson, was born January 1, 1941 in Panama, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The family moved from Panama to Harlan, where she attended Harlan High School.
On May 27, 1957, Karen was united in marriage to Tyrone Scheffler. Five sons were born to this union: Jim, Curt, Tom, Clint and Tyrone Duane. Karen worked at the Holiday Buffett in Harlan, Oakland Foods, Pizza Hut, Dollar General and the Shelby County Speedway.
Karen enjoyed spending time with her family especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved playing cards and would do anything for anyone at any time and always with a smile.
Karen died at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa on Monday, September 25, 2017, attaining the age of seventy- six years, eight months and twenty-four days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons James Tyrone Scheffler, Tyrone Duane Scheffler, granddaughter Cadie Scheffler, siblings Viola Baker, Theresa Porter, Gladys Miller, Ethyl Eskov, Leo Olson, Arthur Olson, Elaine Page, Walter Olson and Ole Olson.
She is survived by her special friend David Peters of Harlan, Iowa; her sons Curt Scheffler and his wife Cindy of Harlan, Iowa; Tom Scheffler and his wife Jan of Harlan, Iowa; Clint Scheffler of Harlan, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings Marilyn and her husband Fairl Johnson of Harlan, Iowa; Ramona Yates of Harlan, Iowa; Kenny Olson of Harlan, Iowa; Richard Olson and his wife Sue of Harlan, Iowa; nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends.
