Kathleen Marie Goans

 Kathleen Marie Goans was born April 10, 1953, in Harlan, Iowa to Allan and Lyla Thompson. She grew up on her family farm outside of Irwin, Iowa and attended Irwin-Kirkman School. After high school, Kathleen was united in marriage to Marvin “Sonny” Goans and to this union four children were born Angela, Jennifer, Jason, and Joseph.

 Kathleen loved being a mom, grandmother, and a great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time at Prairie Rose Lake with her family, planting flowers, baking, reading mystery novels, and decorating her apartment. She looked forward to watching her son Jason race at the Shelby County Speedway.

 Kathleen worked at The Ever-Green Inn, The Coffee Shop, and Variety Distributors in Harlan. She spent 22 years working at the Beer Barn in Kirkman. Kathleen retired in 2020.

 Kathleen passed away at her home in Kirkman on Saturday, January 4, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents Allan and Lyla Thompson and one son Joseph Goans.

 Left to cherish her memory are her children Angela Ripley Goans (Dennis Montag), Jennifer Goans (Andy Lee), Jason Goans, and a bonus son Chris Goans. Sister Lanette Sawyer, brothers Craig Thompson (Dede) and Danny Thompson. Grandsons Justin Ahrenholtz (Steph) and Wyatt Goans, great grandsons Weston and Wade Ahrenholtz, many other relatives and friends.

 There will be no services at this time. The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Angie Ripley Goans at 111 630th Street, Fonda, IA 50540.
