Kathryn was born on May 4, 1936, in Willisville, Illinois, to Sigmund Osterloh and Leslie Higgerson. She grew up in the vibrant city of St. Louis, Missouri, where she forged lifelong friendships and cherished memories. She pursued her dreams, attending IWCC and later enrolling at Buena Vista University, where she excelled in her studies, specializing in Accounting.

On October 11, 1952, Kathryn embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship when she married Vernon Hinz at the Carondelet Evangelical and Reformed Church in St. Louis, Missouri. Their union was a beautiful testament to enduring love, and together they raised four wonderful children: Adrian, Julia, Elizabeth, and Paul.

Kathryn was a woman of many talents and enjoyed a fulfilling career as an inspector at McDonald Douglas Aircraft and as an accountant at Southwestern Bell, Northwestern Bell, and Glacier/Vandervell. Her meticulous attention to detail and strong work ethic left an indelible mark on her professional endeavors.

Beyond her work, Kathryn found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was known for her culinary prowess and delighted in preparing meals that brought loved ones together. Some of the family favorites were mostaccioli, potato salad, crème puffs, apple and cherry pies, peanut brittle, and her famous BBQ ribs.

Kathryn was not only a dedicated wife and mother but also a loving grandmother to eight grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with her family, and her love and wisdom will continue to guide and inspire them throughout their lives.

Kathryn Hinz passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. She was 87 years, 4 months, and 1 day old at the time of her passing. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, her infant son Ronald, her sister Patricia Ronquest, and brother-in-laws Mike Ronquest and Steve Piel. She is survived by her loving husband Vernon Hinz of Council Bluffs, Iowa; her devoted children Adrian (Camille) Hinz of Omaha, Nebraska and grandchildren Kristen (Brandin) Kuklinsk and Daniel; Julia (Thomas) Glissmann of Ankeny, Iowa and grandchildren Derek and Dillon (Amy) and great-grandchildren Nelliene, Damon & Bastion; Elizabeth (Lonny) Miller of Ashland, Nebraska and grandchildren Aaron (Michelle), Laura (Jeffrey) Miller-Morlend, Jonathan (Christine) and great-grandchildren Elainey, Madsen, & Rowen; and Paul (Debra) Hinz of Windermere, Florida and grandchild Michael (Hannah) Hinz; sisters Florence Piel of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Susan (John) Lagow of Windermere, Florida; nieces and nephews, other family and many friends.
