Kenneth Edwin Christensen known to everyone as Casey was born on May 21, 1936 to Victor and Lucille (Watson) Christensen in Persia Iowa. Casey graduated from Harlan in 1954. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 where he was Honorably discharged. On July 7th 1956 he married Evelyn Yvonne Ploughman in Audubon Iowa. To this union one daughter Karen was born and she blessed them with a granddaughter Amanda Kristine (Mohan) Pappas.
Casey was an avid trap shooter, at the age of 18 he received the medal and trophy from Amateur Trapshooting Association, for having 700 or more targets. There were between 12,000 and 13,000 eligible shooters for this award in 1953, this was the greatest number in the history representing Alaska, Canada, Cuba and the Canal Zone. What an honor.
Casey was also a local barber in Harlan. He also drove school bus and was employed with Riley Construction, and Western Engineering.
Casey passed away January 27, 2022. Casey lost his wife Evelyn of 65 years of marriage in August of 2021. He is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, daughter Karen, parents Victor and Lucille, one brother Louis. Casey leaves to cherish his memories his granddaughter Amanda and her husband Taylor Pappas of Omaha, nieces, nephews, and many many special friends.
