Kenneth Walter Meyer was born June 25, 1927, to Albert and Anna Rose Weis Meyer. He was raised on a farm near Buck Grove.
After high school, Ken farmed near Buck Grove. Several years later he began his career working in land and soil conservation for the United States Department of Agriculture. During this time, he lived in Harlan, Onawa, Shenandoah, Creston and Rockwell City.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from Northwest Missouri State University in 1972. After graduation, he became the District Conservationist for Webster County, a position he held until he retired in 1987.
When Ken retired he bought a farm and land near Bedford, Iowa, where he and Marge were married and lived for the next 13 years. In 2000, the two retired in Denison.
Ken and Marge shared a love of gardening, cribbage, dancing and travel. They traveled to polka dances throughout the upper Midwest, enjoying a wide circle of friends.
Ken became a resident at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison where he died on November 27, 2017, having attained the age of ninety years, five months, and two days. In addition to his parents, Kenneth is preceded in death by his sisters, Bertha Maak, Esther Meyer and Margaret Holmes; brothers, Glen Meyer and Wesley Meyer; son, James Meyer; granddaughter, Kenna Haglan.
Those left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 30 years, Marge; daughter, Kay (Rusty Martin); grandchildren, Jann Haglan (Jen Eiteman); Kary Haglan (Ashley Martin), Orion Martin, Neil Haglan, Claire Meyer; great-granddaughter, Alexis Haglan; sister, Phyllis Weaver; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
