Kevin Gerard Coenen was born March 11, 1962 in Harlan, Iowa to Virgil and Mary Ann (Schmitz) Coenen. He was Baptized and Confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling, IA. Kevin went to St. Joseph’s in Earling for grade school and graduated from Harlan Community High School in 1980.

After high school, Kevin was married and moved to Missouri, where he worked for Regal Textile. Soon after he moved back home to Iowa. In 2001 he remarried and resided in Atlantic. Over the span of years, he worked at Dubuque Packing Company, Scheffler Construction, and Krause Anderson Construction, as well as for The Siding Doctor in Marne. Kevin also worked with his brother at Coenen Electric from 1999-2000. He took on many projects, including most recently starting his own business, Coenen Construction, where he installed siding and windows. Kevin kept busy with miscellaneous jobs painting, building decks, and other handy-man tasks. He had many hobbies and enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping, wood crafting, and doing work in his yard. He also enjoyed listening to music, watching football, and racing. Kevin was very family-oriented and loved spending time with his six children and ten grandchildren.

Kevin is survived by his daughters Taryn (Brian) Knapp of Portsmouth, IA; Shelbi (Colin) Clark of Harlan, IA; Cassidy Coenen and her significant other Colton Williamson of Atlantic, IA; sons Colton Lilienthal of Atlantic, IA; Dalton Coenen of Oakland, IA; Kaden Coenen of Atlantic, IA; parents Virgil and Mary Ann Coenen of Earling, IA; siblings Cheri (Steve) Long of Harlan, IA; Gary (Becky) Coenen of Burlington Junction, MO; Geralyn (Randy) Greer of Harlan, IA; Ron (Mimi) Coenen of Waterloo, IA; Amy (Darell) Butcher of Altoona, IA; grandchildren Kynslee, Maylee, Brylee, Hadlee, Beckham, Harper, Quinn, Oakleigh, Haisley, and Hazel; other friends and family.
