Ladonna May Wiese

LaDonna May Wiese was born on June 25, 1930, in Manning, Iowa. She passed away September 17, 2017 at the age of 87 years at Eventide Nursing Home in Denison, Iowa.
LaDonna was one of seven children born to Gustav and Elsie (Wegner) Schrum. She was baptized and confirmed into the Christian Faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. She grew up in the Manning and Manilla area as a child attending Crawford County Country Schools. She graduated from Manning High School in 1948. She met Alvin Wiese at a barn dance while he was in the area working for a local farmer. On June 25, 1949, LaDonna was united in marriage with Alvin L. Wiese, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa. In November of that same year they purchased a farm in Milford Township, north of Denison near Deloit. They were blessed with the birth of four children. They spent many happy years on this farm making cherished memories farming, gardening, listening to country & polka music, reading over 500 books and playing cards. LaDonna was known to always have some sort of tasty treat ready to serve. We often joked if you visited and left hungry it was your own fault! She was an incredible baker and loved canning the produce they raised in their garden. She was a loving, supportive Mom, Grandma and later Great Grandma. Her loving, gentle, friendly spirit will be missed. Alvin & LaDonna sold the farm and moved to Oakwood Manor in Denison in October, 2004. Alvin passed away on March 22, 2008. LaDonna resided at Eventide Senior Housing until August of 2011 when she then moved into Eventide Nursing Home. Eventide truly became her home and second family. She lived her final days with a former neighbor, Lorraine Bral, as her roommate as they enjoyed RFD on Saturday nights.
In addition to her husband, LaDonna was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 3 brothers in law, 2 sister in laws and many other loved ones and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory include her four children and their spouses: Allen Wiese and Diane Bade of Fremont, NE, Ardyth Buller and husband, Jerry of Kiron, IA, Vicki Zimmer and husband, Frank of Deloit, IA, Sherry Kohnekamp of Deloit, IA. ; Grandchildren: Christy McFadden and husband, Josh of Minneapolis, MN, Jason Kohnekamp and wife, Christine of Omaha, NE, Heidi Buller of Phoenix, AZ, Jessica Knutson and husband, Jason of Richfield, MN, Major Jeremy Kohnekamp and wife, Launie of Ocean Springs, MS, Nick Buller and wife, Joanie of Slater, IA and Sarah Birkestrand and husband, Andrew of Minneapolis, MN; Great-Grandchildren: Tessa and Nora McFadden, Jayden and Tyson Kohnekamp, Emery and Nyree Eichelberger, Laney and Will Knutson, Isaac and Evann Buller; Sisters: Margie Schnoor of Denison, IA and Joann Smith of Kansas; brother Lester Schrum of Manilla; sister -in -law, Joanne Wiese of Walcott IA.
