Skip Burk was born in Lake City, Iowa on October 30, 1942, the son of Henry Reese and Dorothy Mae Burk. He received his education in Carroll, Iowa and afterwards started driving Semi. On October 17, 1965, Skip was united in marriage with Ruth Ann Noble. Their union was blessed with 3 daughters: Chris, Missi and Bobbi Jo. They divorced in 1997. Skip was a truck driver his entire life, driving for Keystone, Indiana Refrigeration, Back and Jorgenson. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren grow up, always having something for them to drive around on at the acreage, and loved taking his family on camping trips and fishing. He loved being outside working on his lawn mowers, going to the Casino’s and to Denison to visit with family. On February 5, 2016, Skip moved to Florida to live with Missi. He spent his days sitting on the patio on his bench listening to Old Country Music and talking to the family pets: Lucky the cat, and Oliver the pig. He liked to check on the garden and enjoyed going fishing with his Grandson Zach. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Lake View, Iowa. Skip passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at the Bay Medical Center in Panama City, Florida. At the time of his death he had been blessed with 73 years, 6 months and 26 days. Skip was preceded in death by his parents Reese and Dorothy Burk, brother, Gary Burk, sister, Ganice Burk and niece Lisa Burk. Those remaining to cherish his memory include daughters: Chris Ivanow of Forest Grove, Oregon, Missi Brink (Ross Petersen) of Panama City, Florida, and Bobbi Jo Namanny of Denison, Iowa; eleven grandchildren: Cody Burk, Ashley Ivanow, Mike Burk, Seth Weis (Whitney), Lindsey Weis, Stephanie Brink, Danny Brink, Josh Brink, Zach Petersen, Nick Stover and Jason Stover; great-grandchild Harley Burk and 2 unborn great-grandchildren; brother Denny Burk of California, 2 sisters: Renae (David) Martin of Kentucky and LaRae (Jon) Claussen of Okoboji; nieces, nephews, cousins, 2 life long friends, Melvin Totten and Clay Hawes, both of Denison, other relatives and friends.Memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Pfannebecker Funeral Home, Denison, Iowa, with Lue Baker officiating. Music for the service included recorded selections: “You Raise Me Up”, “Wind Beneath My Wings” and “I Can Only Imagine”. Following the service the family invited everyone to join them at the Vail Community Building, Vail, Iowa, for fellowship and luncheon.
