Larry Joseph Kramer was born to Gerald and Alma (Rau) Kramer on November 22, 1960 in Atlantic, Iowa. He was baptized at St. Patrick Catholic church in Walnut, Iowa and confirmed at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Harlan, Iowa. Larry attended school at and graduated from Harlan High School in Harlan, Iowa.
He had a passion for fishing, often finding solace by the water's edge. Larry's love for games and chance manifested through activities such as visiting the casino, trying his luck with lottery tickets, indulging in lively games of BINGO, and engaging in card games with his family. Larry’s grandpa and uncles would let him play cards with the grown ups when he was still a kid. Larry and his sisters’ favorite dice game, Farkle, was a regular source of laughter and friendly competition during his last months. He was a Chicago Cubs Baseball fanatic. He loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He cherished spending time with them, sharing laughter, stories, and experiences. Larry loved to watch Disney classics, Willy Wonka, and Jumanji, he was a kid at heart.
Larry's sense of adventure and willingness to embrace life's festivities was perfectly captured in his victory at the Harlan Centennial celebration's pie eating contest in 1979. This memorable event showcased his fun-loving spirit and ability to seize the moment.
Larry was a heavy weight wrestler in high school, he took great pride in this activity. His first job was at the high school when he was a senior, he worked as a custodian at the high school where both his parents were also custodians. In addition to his various roles in life, Larry held a range of jobs that reflected his dedication and hard work. From his time at Jim's Locker to his most recent position at the Gummy Bear Factory in Creston, Iowa, Larry's work ethic and friendly demeanor left a positive impact on those around him. Twenty years ago, Larry had to go on disability because of the deep vein thrombosis in his legs.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Alma Kramer and his sister, Debbie Rounds.
Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Sandy (Dave) Hopper of Carroll, Iowa, John Kramer of Easton, KS, Geralyn Kramer of Mason City, IA, and Tami (Alan) Meiners of Dedham, IA; brother-in-law, Bob Rounds of Harlan, IA; 4 nieces and 6 nephews; many other family members and friends.
