Laura M. Heue was born in Carroll, Iowa, February 18, 1920, the daughter of Bernard and Mary Lammers Janning. She spent her younger years in the Mt. Carmel community and attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Schools. On November 18, 1947, Laura was united in marriage with Paul Heue at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Following their marriage the couple farmed east of Breda until 1967 when they moved to a farm south of Vail. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on November 18, 1997. Paul died September 3, 2002 and Laura continued to reside at their home at Vail. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards, gardening and her dogs, especially her faithful little companion, Tina, who was always with her. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Vail and for many years served as housekeeper for Fathers Zeman, Arts and Raemaker. Since November of 2009, Laura had resided at the Carroll Health Center in Carroll, Iowa, and it was there her death occurred Saturday, February 12, 2011. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 90 years, 11 months and 24 days. Including her parents and her husband, Laura was also preceded in death by four sisters: Martha Hoffman; Veronica Olerich; Adaline Authier and Leona Venteicher; and two brothers: Edward and Urban (John) Janning. Those remaining to cherish her memory include one son: Dwight Heue of Vail, Iowa and his children: Julie and Mike Long; David and Teresa Heue; Mike and Kay Heue and Deb and Don Grote; one daughter: Dolores and husband Jerome Riesselman of Manilla, Iowa and their children: Lori Riesselman; Jennifer and Justin Rosendahl; Joseph and Krista Riesselman; Ann and Chad Struve; and Robert and Megan Riesselman; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother-in-law: Leo Neppl of Iowa City, Iowa; two sisters-in-law: Virginia Janning of Lake View, Iowa; and Lois Gehling of Grand Meadows, Minnesota, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Vail, Iowa, with Father Paul Kelly as Celebrant. Others participating in the Mass included Server: Mark Riesselman; Lectors: Jerome Riesselman and Lori Riesselman; Gift Bearers: Dwight Heue and Dolores Riesselman; and Eucharistic Ministers: Jerome and Dolores Riesselman and Justin Rosendahl. Those providing the music for the mass included soloist, Steve Riesselman singing “On This Day O Beautiful Mother” and St. Ann Choir singing “Heart of Jesus”, “On Eagle’s Wings”, “Here I Am Lord” and “Hosea” with Irene Feilmeier serving as organist. Pallbearers were Joseph Riesselman, Robert Riesselman, David Heue, Mike Heue, Mike Long and Don Grote. Interment was at St. Ann Catholic Cemetery at Vail. Following the interment the family invited everyone to join them at the Vail Community Center for fellowship and a luncheon prepared and served by St. Ann Parish. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home,
