LaVere Mae (Nelson) Andersen, daughter of Harold and Francis (Williams) Nelson, was born May 13, 1936 in Audubon County, Iowa. She attended multiple schools as her family moved around but she started in Shelby School as a 7th grader and graduated Shelby High School with the class of 1954.
On November 28, 1954, LaVere was united in marriage to Irwin T. Andersen at the Danish Lutheran Church in Avoca, Iowa. They had two children: Rod and Carol. LaVere and Irwin enjoyed playing golf together throughout the years. LaVere loved mowing her yard, working in her flower beds and in her spare time enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and crafting.
LaVere worked several jobs in the Avoca community throughout the years, with her favorite being a cook at Avoca High School and interacting with the kids.
LaVere died surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa; attaining the age of eighty-two years, one month and eleven days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Irwin Andersen, brother David Nelson and sister Darlene Andersen.
She has left to cherish her memory, her children Rod Andersen and his wife Tammy of Stevens Point, Wisconsin; Carol and her husband Brian Boeck of Denison, Iowa; grandchildren Casey and her husband Josh Ames of Ramona, California; Tara and her husband Mike Doner of Treynor, Iowa; Rusty Andersen and his wife Jamie of Hendersen, Nevada; Jodi and her husband Jared Muhlbauer of Manilla, Iowa; Mitch Boeck and his wife Jenna of Norwalk, Iowa; 14 great grandchildren; sister Louene Palmer of Clara City, Minnesota; brother-in-law Marlin Andersen of Avoca, Iowa; sisters-in-law Catherine and her husband Bob Thoms of Shelby, Iowa; Margie Nelson of Dexter, Minnesota; Dorothy Andersen of Shelby, Iowa; nieces and nephews; other family members, friends, and favorite pet dog Andy.
