LaVern Emil Wolff
LaVern Emil Wolff was born on November 26, 1936 in Geddes, South Dakota to Emil and Alberta Tanner Wolff. He was baptized at St. Paul’s in Oakland, Iowa and attended the Lutheran and United Methodist Churches.
He attended elementary and high school in Lake Andes, South Dakota.
He attended ILCC at Emmetsburg, Iowa and earned a degree in small engine repair. He owned a small engine repair shop in Hancock, Iowa and also was a Lay Minister providing services for nursing homes and churches.
He married Mary Jansen and to that union six children were born - Veranna, James, Kenny, Rhonda, LaVerne and LaVonne.
He later married Marilyn Hyatt on October 20, 1979 in Oakland, Iowa and she came to teh union with two daughters Julie and Sherri.
LaVern retired in 1990 and he and Marilyn have lived in Hancock for all of their married life.
LaVern died at his home on Tuesday May 19, 2015 at his home in Hancock, Iowa having attained seventy eight years, five months and twenty three days. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son Kenny.
Survivors include his wife Marilyn of Hancock, Iowa; his children Veranna Huscher of Sioux City, Iowa; James Wolff of Oklahoma; Rhonda Richards of Defiance, Iowa; LaVerne Frybarger of Rapid City, South Dakota; LaVonne Schmidt of Rapid City, South Dakota; Julie Petry of Plattsmouth, Nebraska and Sherri Claussen of Avoca, Iowa; eighteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
