LaVonne Joyce LaBelle was born on June 13, 1924, to Alfred and Olive (Tenney) Stangeland in Dawson, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Dawson Lutheran Church and attended Dawson Grade School and High School, graduating with the Class of 1942.
She furthered her education at the University of Nebraska in Omaha and graduated with her Associate�s Degree at the top of her class. She then worked in Omaha as a social worker for the state of Nebraska.
LaVonne loved to travel and spend time with her daughters and grandchildren. She also loved going on picnics and doing latch hook and ceramics. She could talk politics all day long and she loved animals.
She moved into her daughter Kara�s home when her health began to fail and it was there that she died on Thursday, July 8, 2010, having attained the age of eighty-six years and twenty-five days. She was preceded in death by her parents.
LaVonne is survived by her daughters: LaNette and her husband Alex Parra of Shelby, Iowa, Linda and her husband Bobby Bartlett of Omaha, Nebraska, Kara and her husband Michael Labenz of Harlan, Iowa, Kim and her husband Dan Robinson of Shelby, Iowa, and Dawn LaBelle of Wilton, Minnesota; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; brother Verdean Stangeland of Rogers, Arkansas; sisters Donna Anagnost of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Flora Jean Wittles of Eagan, Minnesota, and Karen Keifer of Montevideo, Minnesota; other family members and friends.
Pastor Steven Frock officiated the 1:00 PM Memorial Service on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa.
