Lee M. Roecker

Lee M. Roecker was born on September 1, 1929 to Jake and Clara (Thielen) Neiens in Exira, Iowa. She attended grade school in Anita, Iowa, and graduated from Atlantic High School with the Class of 1948.
It was in Atlantic where Lee met Orval Roecker at the roller skating rink. On June 20, 1950, Lee was united in marriage to Orv at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, Iowa. They were blessed with four sons: Greg, Todd, Marc, and Scott.
After her marriage, Lee worked as a telephone switchboard operator. Lee and Orv then made their home in Harlan, Iowa where they raised their sons and were longtime members of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Church was very important to Lee and Orv and as a family they rarely missed mass.
Lee died at her home in Harlan on Monday, May 19, 2014 having attained the age of eighty-four years, eight months, and eighteen days. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orv in February of 2013, brother Vernon, and sisters Bernice and Louise.
She is survived by her sons: Greg Roecker and Denise Van De Berg of Harlan, Iowa, Todd Roecker and his wife Jolene of Atlantic, Iowa, Marc Roecker and his wife Kim of Lebanon, Missouri, and Scott Roecker and his wife Kathleen of Redondo Beach, California; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; brother Bob Neiens of Omaha, Nebraska; sisters: Buelah Eblen of Atlantic, Iowa and Alice Larsen of Omaha, Nebraska; other family members and friends.
