Leonard James “Domie” Hassett, son of Leonard “Hun” and Cecelia “Celia” Lochmiller Hassett passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013, in his hometown of Denison, Iowa. He is survived by his daughter Shawn, sister Melody, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, long time companion, Marla and good friends, Randy and Vicki Schraeder. Domie was born in Denison, March 21, 1932, and attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic School before graduating from Denison High School with the class of 1950. Following high school he became an expert brick mason. After moving to California, he formed Shawn Construction Company and became a talented and successful general contractor. He was an accomplished pilot and owned several extraordinary aircraft. Domie will be remembered as a unique individual who lived life his way. You always found him with a smile on his face. His kindness and love of animals and nature were his true attributes. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. Domie was laid to rest beside his parents at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Denison. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home, www.pfannebecker.com , Denison, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.
