Leslie Clifford Hanson, son of Clifford and Phyllis (Kindschy) Hanson, was born on July 31, 1942, in Harlan, Iowa. He attended Harlan High School and was a member of the class of 1960.
Leslie moved to Omaha, Nebraska when he was nineteen. During his time in Omaha, he owned and operated several businesses including Studio Graphics where he did advertising and print work. Leslie was a very talented artist and served several years on the Omaha Summer Arts Festival Board. He also co-owned Cornucopia which hosted a major annual event in Omaha called Food Fair. They started the event in 1981 and continued it for eight consecutive years. Leslie was currently the co-proprietor of a retail gift store called Gadgeteer. He was a very detail oriented person and enjoyed learning how things worked. Leslie put in many hours at the store and could describe every piece of merchandise he sold.
When he wasn�t working, Leslie enjoyed working on his truck and sports cars. He kept them clean and shiny. He had a lifelong appreciation of art, design, books, and music. He was extremely proud of his Norwegian heritage.
He died on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska having attained the age of sixty-five years, ten months, and twenty-one days.
He is survived by his companion Rita Ann Danielson of Omaha, Nebraska; his children: Timothy Hanson and his wife Carole of Geneva, Illinois; Cindy Johnston and her fianc� Mark Reed of San Francisco, California; Melanie and her husband Clint McDonald of Logan, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Eve Johnston, Claire Herrick; Ryan Herrick, Kate Hanson, John Hanson, Madison Mether, and Brooklyn Mether; one great-grandson Jayden Johnston-Nims; his parents Clifford and Phyllis Hanson of Harlan; his sisters Bev and her husband Roger Sorensen of Harlan and Bonnie and her husband Bill Weilage of Council Bluffs, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, June 26, 2008, beginning at 11:00 AM at the Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa. Pastor Ron Riley officiated. Serving as casket bearers were Jerry Longe, David Danielson, Ryan Herrick, Gene Goodrich, Corey Sorensen, and Barry Sorensen. Interment was held at the Harlan Cemetery.
