Lilas Brockmann

Lilas Brockmann passed away at Elm Crest in Harlan, Iowa on Friday, February 7, 2025.
Lilas Jeanette Norgaard was born in Harlan, Iowa on July 14, 1927 to Jens and Anna Norgaard. She attended school in Harlan, graduating with the class of 1945.
On February 14, 1947 she was united in marriage to Lyle Brockmann. They became the parents of two children and eventually settled in LeMars, Iowa in 1959. Lilas worked with Iowa Public Service for several years, and then as the secretary to the President of Westmar College until her retirement. After her retirement Lyle and Lilas returned to reside in Harlan in 1993. During her retirement, Lilas made beautiful quilts and enjoyed knitting and crossword puzzles.
Lilas was preceded in death by her husband Lyle in 1995 and her son Scott in 2022. She is survived by her daughter Laurie Brockmann of Bloomington, MN, granddaughter Katie Arpin and great-granddaughters Quinn and Brynley Arpin of Minneapolis, MN and daughter-in-law Jennifer Brockmann of Pleasantville, IA.
