Linda Holtmyer

Linda Ilene Holtmyer, daughter of Orville and Ethel (Carse) Turner was born March 30, 1941, in Red Oak, Iowa. She attended school in Avoca, Iowa and graduated from Avoca High School. She then attended Northwest Missouri State University earning her degree in Elementary Education.
After college, Linda began her career teaching at Lewis Lake View School in Council Bluffs, Iowa. During this time in Council Bluffs, she met the love of her life LaVern Holtmyer. They were married on February 5, 1966. Three children were born to this union: Lance, Larissa, and Laine.
After starting her family, Linda began working as a preschool teacher at Hillside Preschool at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Harlan, Iowa. She retired in 1998. She was a longtime member of the Congregational Church and loved helping where needed at the church. Known for her spicy red hair, Linda was always ready to lend a helping hand and enjoyed supporting and serving friends, family, and community members.
Linda died on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, attaining the age of eighty-two years, three months, and twenty-three days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband LaVern on February 3, 2023.
She is survived by her children Lance (Heather) Holtmyer of Council Bluffs, IA; Larissa Holtmyer Jones (Dean Jones) of Ames, IA; Laine Holtmyer (Nancy Borman) of Superior, WI; grandchildren Carsen Jones, Ellian Jones, Michael Holtmyer; other family members and friends.
