Lloyd Henry Robinson was born on November 3, 1939 to Archie and Ethel (Huey) Robinson in South Sioux City, Nebraska. He attended schools in Oto, Iowa, Irwin, and Glidden, Iowa, and graduated from Glidden High School with the Class of 1958. He went through auto mechanics trade school in Omaha, Nebraska.
He took his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and served in the United States Army Reserves for two and one half years, writing letters to Linda Ankenbauer the whole time he was in the service.
After his honorable discharge, Lloyd returned home and eloped to Scranton, Iowa with Linda on March 20, 1960. Two sons were born to them: Jamie and Lenny. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Harlan and then to Atlantic. After his dad injured his back, the family moved to Irwin to help run his repair shop and in 1963, started Robinson Implement and sold Allis Chalmers equipment.
Lloyd was very family-oriented and loved spending time with his grandsons. He raced in Denison and Harlan and was a fan of Nascar. He enjoyed woodworking and loved his trips to the cabin in Missouri.
Lloyd was a member of the Irwin City Council, the Lion�s Club, and served on the Irwin Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was also on the Agco Dealer Advisory Board, Shelby County Waste Management Board, and the Manning Regional Hospital Board.
He had a great sense of humor and was known to do a little trap shooting behind the shop. He enjoyed having coffee at the Country Store with his friends in the morning. Lloyd had started a tradition of flying kites on Easter with his sons and continued with his grandsons.
Lloyd died on Monday, May 28, 2012 at St. Anthony�s Hospital in Carroll, Iowa, having attained the age of seventy-two years, six months, and twenty-five days. He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Linda Robinson of Irwin, Iowa; sons Jamie Robinson and Lenny Robinson and his wife Lisa all of Irwin; two grandsons: Lane and Luke Robinson; mother Ethel Robinson; sister Jean and her husband Jim Borcher and brother Don Robinson and his wife Gladys all of Irwin; other family members and many friends.
Pastor Leila Blackburn and Pastor Ted Sieck officiated the 10:30 AM funeral service on Friday, June 1, 2012 at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa. Honorary casket bearers were Loren Thompson, John Buman, Kenny Lapke, and Phil Freund. Serving as casket bearers were Eugene Monson, William Carter, Rick Schwarte, Eric Monson, Brad Sorensen, and Rich Schwieso. Interment was held at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Irwin, Iowa.
