Lois Jean Goetzinger was born on May 7, 1953 to Russell and Dorothy (Branstetter) Lefeber in Logan, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Panama, Iowa. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School through grade school and graduated from Harlan Community High School with the Class of 1971. During high school, she had worked at Super Value grocery store and continued working there after graduation in addition to driving a school bus.

She went to work at Western Iowa Pork before joining Farmland in Denison. After she was injured and unable to work the floor, she received her meat inspector certificate at Texas A & M in College Station, Texas and went to work for the United States Department of Agriculture. For the past thirteen years, Lois worked for the Federal Government as a meat inspector in Omaha, Nebraska.

Lois was the mother of four children: Jason, Jennifer, Jeremy, and Joshua; and step-mom to Tiffany and loved spending time with her family. On August 28, 2004, Lois was united in marriage to William Goetzinger at a private ceremony with their family and close friends.

When she wasn’t working or spending time with her grandchildren, she enjoyed thinking up and working on many different projects and was an avid golfer.

Lois died unexpectedly on Monday, August 6, 2012 having attained the age of fifty-nine years, two months, and thirty days. She was preceded in death by her father, Russell.

She is survived by her husband Bill Goetzinger of Westphalia, Iowa; children: Jason Nielsen of Harlan, Iowa, Jennifer and her husband Wade Daggett of Blair, Nebraska, Jeremy Nielsen and his wife Kylie of Irwin, Iowa, and Joshua Nielsen of Harlan, step-daughter Tiffany and her husband Adam Skidmore of Grandview, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Payton, Paige, Hayden, Maxwell, Maeve, Brooklyn, and Wyatt; her mother Dorothy Lefeber of Harlan; sisters Lory Thomsen of Denison, Iowa and Linda and her husband Craig Williams of Woodbine, Iowa; brothers Lyle Lefeber and his wife Jane of Omaha, Nebraska, Larry Lefeber and his wife Sharon of Omaha, and Lon Lefeber and his friend Gayle Main of Clarinda, Iowa; other family members and many friends.

Rev. John Dorton celebrated the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 10, 2012 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia, Iowa. Honorary casket bearers were Payton Daggett, Paige Daggett, Hayden Daggett, Maxwell Nielsen, Maeve Nielsen, Brooklyn Skidmore and Wyatt Skidmore. Serving as casket bearers were Jason Nielsen, Jeremy Nielsen, Joshua Nielsen, Wade Daggett, Adam Skidmore, Matthew Williams, and Aaron Williams. A private inurnment was held at St. Boniface Cemetery.
