Lois Jane Gordon, daughter of Harold Christian and Alta Elma (Lee) Andersen, was born May 23, 1944 on the family farm in Monroe Township Shelby County, Iowa. She attended country school at Monroe #3 in Cuppy’s Grove through the 6th grade.
In July of 1966, Lois was united in marriage to Glenn Gordon and to this union they were blessed with four children: Terry, Shari, Melinda and Todd. She was a stay at home mom while her children were young. Lois and Glenn remained very good friends even after their separation and continued attending family gatherings together. Lois loved children and helped at Time for Tots in Harlan and sold Avon out of her home for many years.
Spending time outdoors was something Lois loved to do. She worked in her garden and harvested the fruits and vegetables for canning. She enjoyed cooking with the food she helped grow and was always eager to try new recipes. She also enjoyed listening to country music, crafting and word searches. The thing Lois loved most was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Lois died on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, attaining the age of seventy-three years, eleven months and eight days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Norma Andersen, Donald Andersen, Marvel Gries, Ardith Bivens and nephews Randy Fox and Marty Bivens.
She has left to cherish her memory, her children: Terry Gordon and his wife Karen of Harlan, Iowa; Shari and her husband Denver Hansen of Kimballton, Iowa; Melinda Gordon and her fiance Tracy Dickinson of Harlan; Todd Gordon of Council Bluffs, Iowa; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; special friend Robert Dickinson of Harlan; siblings Darwin Andersen and his wife Karen of Harlan; LaVonne and her husband Fred Fox of Harlan; Wayne Andersen and his wife Mary of Pella, Iowa; nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends.
