Lois Bernice Kahler

Lois Bernice Kahler was born on October 18, 1918 in Minden, Iowa. She was the daughter of William and Minnie (Kay) Ploen. She was a lifelong member of the Minden United Church of Christ and attended school in Shelby and graduated with the Class of 1936.
On April 9, 1938, Lois was united into marriage to John Kahler. To this union one son was born: Gary. Together, John and Lois started Minden Café and Bowling Alley. They both worked there and would attend many area dances around Minden. She loved to play cards and have coffee with friends.
On Monday, October 18, 2021, Lois passed away on her 103rd birthday surrounded by her son at the Midlands Living Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John; and brothers Lester, Dale and Harley.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Gary (Karen) Kahler of Elkhorn, Nebraska; grandchildren Kristi (Dave) Blum, Lori (Mark) Hauptman and Jill Young; great grandchildren Heidi, Hanna, Jared, Nate, Amber and Amanda; great-great grandchildren Callahan and Aidan.
